I thought I had the feeling that Holiday Nostalgia, and I believe many people have that feeling too.
I came back from Pittsburgh, and when I on the way to my dorm, it made me feel really strange. I told my friend that I missed everything in Atlanta. In the article "“Nostalgic reminiscence helps a person maintain a sense of continuity despite the constant flow of change over time. It is reassuring to realize how rich our lives have been – how much joy, hard work, success and excitement we have experienced." I definitely recollected things happened in there, hung out with friends and restaurants, etc. I also saw many students posted a lot of pictures, which places they was traveling.
The article wrote : "nostalgia helps us maintain those connections and a sense of belonging. " If we did not have this feeling, we would indifference forgotten friendship. Therefore, I thought Holiday Nostalgia was important for us.

Groundhog Day (2 articles' comment!!!!!!!!!)
This Monday we watched half of Groundhog Day, and at the beginning, I thought it was a not entertaining movie. Then I found what was the main idea of this movie. I thought it was a fantastic comedy. The two article also told the gist of the article; especially, when Phil said " What would you do if you stuck in one place, and everything that you did was the same, and nothing mattered?" It showed how this person would do when he met this thing. He showed a different life for many people.. .Crashed the car, ate too many sweets, punch the people, one-night stand and etc.
In one article, talked about the main actor, Bill Murray. I quite like his perform because the movie "Lost in Translation", in this article told he put himself in every movie, Groundhog Day because of him, so it succeeded. Murray could catch the emotions in the special character, or the character had the same personality just like him.
Groundhog Day, it was a so funny and also had deep meaning in it. It could find on the change that Phil did. He forced to live in the same day again and again, and never knew when it could change normal life. He changed to learn the thing which he did not care before, and he started to help people. This movie could make people have a lot of feeling and thinking in it. If this happened on me or any of people, what should we do? I would probably eat a lot of foods and jumps from the top of the building. I did not know, so write it down your comment about what if this thing happened on you?

The Broadcast and other article
I read the The war of the world broadcast first, then I could think that Radio was completely important during that time. In the article "One Explanation for The War of The Worlds panic is that the show aired just after the Munich crisis, a war scare that was referenced at the start of the broadcast." I quite did not understand this, did they really want to get the trust of audiences ? because radio was the only way that people could know outside of the country and daily news. At first, I thought they just wanted audiences to get use if the real war happened; because it said this is that the show aired just after the Munich crisis. The CBS had punish for doing that. After I read the other article, it illustrated what was going on when people heard it going to have a war. People lost control, and they ran away, cried, and etc. However, the person who made this things, which mede me feel like he was doing a experiments. I was so confusing why they did that; even those articles wrote something in it, but i still could not understand it very well.
Ok, who did understand those 2 articles, welcome to comment .....

comment on the war of the world
I want to talk about my opinion first, if I heard that martins came to China, and wanted to take over this country. I believed some of chinese would first think if the martins could eat; although it was pretty ironic, but it was true. Chinese eats everything! I would be totally freaked out if I heard that martins would take over my country, because people did not know or image what those Martins going to do.
After I read those 2 articles that I really wanted to see the movie; because I was big fan about researching aliens. When I was in middle school; I used to search every news about aliens, and my parents were mad about this. It was a strange time for me that I dreamed aliens take me to the other planets every night. These 2 articles talked about the how people reacted when they met Martins. Generally in this article, people was frightened and tried to run away from their country.
The most confusing thing for me was how could people believe that, and how could TV shows came up with this idea. If this news played in chinese TV shows, it would be terrible because people would run to hit the TV station(just kidding).
I am interested in watch this movie anyway.

Comment Postmortem: Iraq war media coverage dazzled but it also obscured
I think no matter when the Iraq War but was a hot topic, because Iraq War have large affected to many people. “Patriotism is never stronger or more vital than in times of war”---from the article. At the beginning of the war, everyone talked about patriotism or hope they could win in the US. In fact, I was not quite knowing about Iraq war, because I saw a lot of news were about how sad the Iraq was, and American soldiers killed a lot of Iraq people, etc. It was the power of media. They could control what people see or hear from the news about countries, especially news about the war. After that, the reporters wrote things about the Iraq war, but they covered the truth. I did not know what Americans heard ,but in China we only got the information was American soldiers were cruel. In the article, reporter lost their confidential information, and someone saw those. After this happening, people started thinking about could they trust media? Then, I saw Americans started to publicize the peace.
Most time, I do not believe what the media says, because most news about wars does not true. They do not want to ordinary people know their country is going have a war, or something awful. Media covers those things for calm down people’s feeling. That is what I am thinking.
Comment on How Media Coverage of Vietnam War
I did not know much about this war. I had American history class in the high school, and some Vietnam students talked about this war, they did not express mad or any negative feeling about talking this War. I was confusing about this; because usually a bunch of students would talk about the war and how painful after the war. Even though, I was not sure they did understand the war. People said because Media to disseminate information about losses. After, Americans and Vietnams stopped the war. Many people dead in this war and both of those 2 countries losses lots things in the war.
“The media would not just accept press releases from the government, now they began more investigative journalism to check for the truth behind the official reports.” From the article, the reporters posted pictures on the newspaper about the war. What the war brought to them? How the war destroyed their home? I think sometimes media brought the good advantages of the war, but I still do not believe of Media.

Comment of the 2 articles!
Wag the dog shot on 1997, and It was a political comedy movie. I read those 2 article about this movie. It talks about “Media manipulation is a set of tactics used by certain individuals and groups--especially those who have enough political power or money to control the news media” ——from the article. This movie was interesting, because it showed audiences corrupt thing of the government. In this movie, Brean was a wily person, and he knew how to manipulate the political, press and public opinion. He made the news about the war, so people could focus on the other big news but not the President harassment girl scandal.
In my opinion, this movie used a good way to show people what was the another side of political, corruption and darkness. I believed many of countries' government have had that problems. It was a usual phenomena. Filmmaker used a funny way to show audiences. I also saw this in the article "As an example, someone may invoke patriotic distraction by saying, "You think that we should adopt a healthcare policy like they have in China. Do you really think the Chinese know better than us about healthcare?" I did not understand this part. What kind of healthcare in China? (=___=)))?!
Sum up, those two articles talked the politicians to control the media power and used this power in the political.

Comment of Reality Shows
After I read two articles "Just how real are reality TV shows?" and "The real deal on reality TV". I have a thought that is reality TV show always had some problems. In the US, people love watching the reality TV shows because it is showing the story of ordinary people or how they achieved their dream. It is similar as Chinese reality TV shows and many other countries too. In the era, people do not want to watch more fancy stars who act someone else, and audiances are not satisfied with the fake stories in the TV show. They want to watch more real things are like happened in the real life than the fairy tale. That is the reason why many producers changed their thoughts about the original TV shows, and they want to find new things to attract people watch TV show again.
At first, American TV shows have "American idol" and "Dancing with the stars" some TV shows like that. Those TV shows have the general point is all those people are ordinary. They do not famous like superstars, and they maybe has some trouble with their life or something can make audiences feel the same like themselves. Of course, people will pay it. Then, those idols would become famous, and producers also can get what they want. The common problem is "how real are reality TV". These years, many audiences found constants already chose before the show, and a lot of news like that. People found reality TV shows were not real, but why still a number of people watching this. I found a good sentence to support this thesis that is "It's just a symptom of what people want, good and bad. "It just reflects our society, nothing more.". From the "The real deal on Reality TV". I believe that few people feel the same way as those constants' experience, so they support them and want to go see their future development. A number of people may be feel fun or exciting to watch reality TV shows. At last, in my opinion no matter if is real or not, people would still watch Reality TV shows, like the article wrote "I think the danger is they're a toxin in the culture, that we can enjoy them up to a certain degree, but it's not possible to watch these shows and not be affected by them," said Kaplan.

Comment of An American Famliy
The series was about this family in Santa Barbara, California. This documentary was showed a real American family. The authors also wish to reflect contemporary real situation from an American family, such as the article inside says "An American Family," were the subjects of a highly public sociological experiment - or, as we now commonly think of them, the first family of reality TV. " So when people look at this program will not be bored, but real, to feel inside the character's personality, as well as their real life. "The middle-class dream that you can become famous for being just who you are." from which to tell the audience see, do not need to change your personality go to famous star life.
In fact, contrast and the general people's lives, ordinary people hope to become a star, like a sparkling, affluent, but also ordinary people have forgotten famous people would have helpless or some negative emotion in their reality life. The eldest son is gay, and the parents' marital problems all problems that normal people have in this documentary. But the wealthy star's life, the ordinary people can not identify with.

comment on Christopher Reeve
we have seen so many, such as Superman, Spider-man, Batman, Ironman, etc. They all have unexplored power that normal people would never have or even fantasize about. That is why people always use their own thoughts to make the glory of heroes. The hero must have super powers, and interest in the salvation of people. It is not too fancy? In the era, we want to see the real superhero, a person who can really help people from suffering and sorrow of life. A lot of people still live in a helpless life, they want to see hope!
He is not only the Superman in the movie for us. Christopher Reeve is a real superhero in the real society. He helped a lot of people who are paralyzed. After I read the first article, it has four questions. Then I would write my answers and combine some opinion of the second article.
Christopher Reeve as the Superhero acted the role as best as possible. Of course, we can see people who like Superheroes think he did a good job on this role. Superhero was rescuing people from distress, and used the super power for the maintenance of law and order, to put an end to social corruption. As an American symbol, and the continuation of the American dream.
Behind the screen he was still a superhero. This all started when he fell from a horse, and got a near-fatal spinal cord injury. Almost dead, but he was fortunately still alive. After he could not move his body and had to use breathing apparatus. He still fought with his life, never giving up. He cried every day dealing with the reality of being in a wheelchair. "In the morning, I need twenty minutes to cry," he said. "To wake up and make that shift, you know, and to just say, "This really sucks"...to really allow yourself the feeling of loss...still needs to be acknowledged." from the article. It was hard for him too. He has no super power, or iron body. He wanted to show and encourage everyone who is in suffering or has the same disease as him. From the article I could know that after he cried he would tell himself, "And now, Forward!" "Reeve continued to travel, do public appearances, and serve as a voice for the paralyzed in the United States." Reeve epitomized both types of heroes was encouraged people and selfless help everyone.
The second question, I think the reason that Reeve was more close to normal people, absolutely because he did not have any super power like superman. It makes people feel more real, no longer fancy or let them stay in the fantasy only. When some disabled people feel they could touch something real, or there is a person who completely knew their feelings, then they would admire and learn from his spirit. Reeve made a charitable foundation for disabled people or people like him. He not only gave speeches everywhere but also did what he said. That made an everyday hero like Reeve be even more inspiring than Superman.
"Now my definition is completely different. I think a hero is an ordinary individual who finds strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles." from the article, Christopher Reeve said.

"Superman as the Essential American Hero" comments
This article has the same topic as the last one"The American Mythology" . It talks about the impact that superman or [superheroes] bring to America. "Superman has a distinction of being a hero recognized throughout the world as America's greatest icon. And despite being over seventy years old and now only seen as part of a large group of heroes he has endured as being something different. " This sentence is guides the article topic. No matter how long superman has been around, he will always be remembered in every American's mind. After that, the writer started to describe why Superman's behavior is influential. He saved an innocent woman from death. However, matter is there is a conflict and the laws of the government. That is why his influential behavior shows that he will do some provocative things like dare to challenge the government's corruption, and to inspire the confidence of the people. "The superman of this age would take on crime lords ....." this shows that the writer wants to talk about the corrupt behavior of the American government at that time, as well as the peoples' fear of the government. This is all of those because of the Great Depression. Therefore, Superman came to help people pass through the Depression time. It's focus is related to a living flag, "superman always uses his immense strength and super-intelligence to solve problems without leaving a trail of bodies in his wake. " This point reminded me about "American Dream". These two topics want to tell people to look on the bright side World War II also brought a bad time to America. "Superman was there to give them hope and inspiration as they faced the greatest evil the world had ever seen"author wrote. It can be found, Superman brought a thoughts in all aspects of 'social justice and moral'. "The change in Superman's character reflected the change in the nation, no longer were Americans tough and rebellious, World War II had placed America in the role of international peace keeper." This view explains the changes in the United States. "Superman continued throughout the Cold War set in his ways, and often criticized as being out of date." I think this view might means some Americans still want to keep a old way of thinking about their lives or what they think the USA should do.

comment about The American Mythology
After I read The American Mythology, I have some opinions about it.
First, we could know why American always made some myths, which was called American Mythology from the article. Because of American myths to tell you, this is a real transition from American culture; superman story also shows that a country can accommodate, whether you come from, you can do great things. “These stories espouse the collective values on which America was founded.” —by The American Mythology. Articles also mentioned,“These children grew up, just as Superman, to espouse “American values.” They grew up believing wholeheartedly in things like truth, justice and the American way.” Emphasizes once again the America is an acceptable country.
Second, the writer talked about the Spider-Man, Batman. The reason was that they were normal person in the American, but still can be the superhero. It proved "In the America, anyone can do great things" this argument.
Third, the last few paragraphs wrote "superheroes live in a very black and white world", I could know this point in this sentence, which means convey informations of good and evil in this real society.
At last, this article was telling people not just read comic as amusement, because the writer or painter were telling you a real America.
